Jaguar XF CarPlay installation, generation by generation.

Sometimes. On X260 cars with the 10.2-inch InControl Touch Pro screen from about 2018, the CarPlay and Android Auto functions may be in the software and locked, and we can check the VIN and switch them on. Earlier Touch Pro cars, the 8-inch InControl Touch and every X250 with the 7-inch screen never had it, so those get our wireless CarPlay box, which shows CarPlay on the original screen.

It sits behind the original unit and puts CarPlay or Android Auto on the 7-inch touchscreen full-size, controlled by touch. The Jaguar menus, climate page and radio are untouched; you switch to CarPlay with a long press on a button we agree with you. Your phone connects wirelessly a few seconds after you start the car, and a reversing camera can be added through the same box.

It depends on the generation. X250 (2008–2015): from €750; X260 (2015 on): from €250. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

X250, built 2008–2015 (Jaguar 7-inch touchscreen with navigation, standard on most cars; no CarPlay): Wireless CarPlay box behind the 7-inch touchscreen, driven by touch; the original menus stay and you switch with a long press. X260, built 2015 on (InControl Touch 8-inch on 2015–2017 cars, InControl Touch Pro 10.2-inch on most 2016–2020 cars with CarPlay as an option from 2018, Pivi Pro 11.4-inch with CarPlay standard from the 2021 model year): Wireless CarPlay box on InControl Touch and Touch Pro cars that came without it; Touch Pro cars from 2018 can often be switched on by software, which we check first; Pivi Pro cars have it from the factory and get a wireless adapter.

X250: two to four hours; X260: two to four hours. You can wait at the workshop or drop the XF in the morning and collect it the same day.
