Every TM from 2018 and every MX5 has it from the factory; the TM is wired on most screens, so a wireless adapter is the usual job, and the MX5 is wireless already. CM, built 2006–2012 (CD radio with no screen on most cars; 7-inch touchscreen navigation on some cars after the 2010 facelift): Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto through an Android screen in the original radio position, as most CM cars have no screen. DM, built 2012–2018 (Radio with a small display, Bluetooth and USB on most cars; 7-inch touchscreen navigation on Premium trims, without CarPlay): Android screen with wireless CarPlay in place of the original radio; on cars with the 7-inch navigation a CarPlay interface on the original screen is sometimes possible, checked by reg. TM, built 2018–2024 (7-inch display audio with CarPlay and Android Auto on 2018–2020 base cars, 8-inch navigation on higher trims; 8-inch display audio with wireless CarPlay or 10.25-inch navigation after the 2020 facelift): Factory CarPlay on every TM; wired on the 7-inch display audio and the 8 or 10.25-inch navigation, so a wireless adapter is the usual job; the facelift 8-inch display audio is already wireless. MX5, built 2024 on (12.3-inch ccNC touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory): Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory, nothing to add; set-up and fault-finding where a phone will not connect.

CM: two to three hours; DM: two to four hours; TM: two to three hours; MX5: about an hour. You can wait at the workshop or drop the Santa Fe in the morning and collect it the same day.
