The GJ from 2013 to 2018, split between TomTom cars that get an Android screen and MZD Connect cars that get the CarPlay retrofit kit. GH cars come in for Android screens and cameras, facelift cars for wireless CarPlay, front sensors and cameras. Japanese-import Atenzas get an Android screen whichever year they are.

Not at the dashboard: the head unit, fascia and harness are the same on both bodies of every generation. The difference is at the back, where the estate tailgate needs a different camera bracket and the rear sensor buzzer sits in the boot side trim rather than under the parcel shelf.

GG / GY — 2002–2008 (Saloon, five-door hatch and GY estate): CD radio built into the dashboard, Bose on higher trims; no screen. GH — 2008–2012 (Saloon, five-door hatch and estate): CD radio with a display strip above the vents; factory navigation on some higher trims; Bose on the Sport. GJ — 2012–2018 (Saloon and Tourer estate): 5.8-inch TomTom navigation on 2013–2014 cars; MZD Connect with a 7-inch screen and the Commander knob from 2015; Bose on higher trims. CarPlay: Retrofit kit on MZD Connect, an Android screen on GG, GH and TomTom cars, factory CarPlay on the facelift. Car radio: Android screen with a matching fascia on GG, GH and TomTom GJ cars; MZD Connect kept on later cars. Reversing camera: Camera on the MZD Connect screen on the GJ, on the Android screen or a mirror monitor on older cars. Parking sensors: Colour-matched rear sensors on every generation, front sensors added on the GJ. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Parking sensors: two to three hours for one end, about half a day for front and rear. Most 6 owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
