Radio King works on the Kia XCeed: every XCeed has CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory, wired on 2019–2022 cars and on the 10.25-inch navigation, wireless on the 8-inch display audio after the 2022 facelift, so the usual job is a wireless adapter and reliable Android Auto set-up. 2020 to 2022 cars, nearly all for a wireless CarPlay adapter because every launch XCeed is wired. Facelift owners with the 10.25-inch navigation come for the same thing; owners with the 8-inch display audio already have wireless CarPlay and only come in when a phone will not connect.
Does the plug-in hybrid change anything?
Not for CarPlay: the PHEV has the same 10.25-inch navigation as a high-spec petrol car and takes the same adapter. The adapter powers up from the USB port, so it has no effect on the 12 V battery or the drive battery, and nothing on the high-voltage side is touched.
Which Kia XCeed generation do I have?
CD — 2019–2022 (petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid): 7-inch display audio with wired CarPlay and Android Auto on base cars, 8 or 10.25-inch navigation with wired CarPlay on higher trims. CD-PE — 2022 on: 8-inch display audio with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on base cars, 10.25-inch navigation with wired CarPlay on GT-Line and above. Not sure? What does Radio King fit on a Kia XCeed?
CarPlay: A wireless adapter on wired 2019–2022 cars and on 10.25-inch navigation cars; base facelift cars are wireless. Reversing camera: Factory-look camera on the factory screen with guidelines, coded in where the car supports it. Car radio: Larger Android screen with the factory buttons and amplifier kept, where the original display is too small. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Four sensors in the rear bumper with a buzzer that beeps faster; sound only. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.
How long do jobs on a Kia XCeed take?
CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most XCeed owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
Do you keep the factory system on a Kia XCeed?
CD: the 7-inch display audio with wired CarPlay and Android Auto on base cars, 8 or 10.25-inch navigation with wired CarPlay on higher trims stays and we add to it. CD-PE: the 8-inch display audio with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on base cars, 10.25-inch navigation with wired CarPlay on GT-Line and above stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
