Yes, as long as it is done on the 12 V side. Every Niro, hybrid, plug-in or electric, has a normal 12 V battery that feeds the fuse box under the dash, and that is where the dash cam is hardwired, with a low-voltage cut-off set for the smaller battery so parking mode cannot leave you stranded. The high-voltage system is never touched.

DE cars from 2017 to 2021, mostly hybrids and e-Niros, for a wireless CarPlay adapter and a dash cam. SG2 owners come for the same two jobs, plus the odd reversing camera replacement. Both generations share the same fuse box position and the same USB set-up, so the work takes about the same time.

CarPlay: Factory CarPlay on both generations; a wireless adapter on wired DE cars and SG2 navigation cars. Reversing camera: Factory camera on most Niros; a camera added into the factory screen on base cars. Dash cam: Hardwired on the 12 V side with a cut-off set for the hybrid or EV battery. Car radio: Larger Android screen with the factory buttons and amplifier kept, where the original display is too small. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Colour-matched sensors with a factory-style tone, shown on the screen where the car supports it. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Dash cam: one to two hours for a front camera, about two with a rear camera. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Most Niro owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

DE: the 7-inch touchscreen with CarPlay and Android Auto on most 2016–2018 cars, 8-inch navigation on higher trims; 8-inch display audio or 10.25-inch navigation after the 2019 facelift stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
