The JK from 2007 to 2018, for the 10-inch Android screen with a reversing camera on the spare wheel. JL owners come for a wireless adapter and dash cams, and the odd TJ comes in for a floating screen. Two-door and Unlimited are the same job inside.

The units we fit are sealed the same as a factory radio, and the JK fascia seals to the dash as the original did. Cameras on the spare-wheel carrier are rated for wading and jet washing, and the cable runs inside the tailgate and sill trim, not along the outside, so the doors and roof can still come off.

TJ — 1997–2006: Single-DIN factory radio, cassette or CD, no screen. JK — 2007–2018: RES or REN CD radio to 2010; Uconnect 430 or 430N with a 6.5-inch screen from 2011; no CarPlay on any year. JL — 2018 on: Uconnect 4 with a 7-inch screen or Uconnect 4C NAV 8.4-inch, CarPlay and Android Auto on both; Uconnect 5 with a 12.3-inch screen from the 2024 facelift. Not sure? CarPlay: Floating Android screen on the TJ, a 10-inch Android screen on the JK, factory CarPlay in Uconnect on the JL. Reversing camera: Camera on the spare-wheel carrier: on the Android screen on TJ and JK, coded into Uconnect on the JL. Car radio: Floating single-DIN screen on the TJ, a 10-inch Android screen with fascia on the JK, Uconnect kept on the JL. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Four rear sensors and a beeper that speeds up as you close in; nothing on the screen. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Wrangler owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
