Launch cars from 2016 to 2019 have CarPlay and Android Auto, but only by cable on both the 7-inch touchscreen and the 8-inch navigation. After the 2019 facelift the 10.25-inch navigation is still wired, while the 8-inch display audio usually connects wirelessly. On any wired car a wireless adapter in the USB port pairs the phone automatically and leaves the factory screen and buttons as they were.
Is the adapter safe on the IONIQ Electric and plug-in?
Yes. It draws its power from the factory USB port, the same as a phone cable, so it touches nothing on the high-voltage side and has no measurable effect on range. It is the same part across the hybrid, plug-in and Electric of the same year, because they share the head unit, and it unplugs in seconds.
How much does CarPlay cost on a Hyundai IONIQ?
It depends on the generation. AE (2016–2019): from €250; AE-PE (2019–2022): from €290. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

How long does CarPlay take on a Hyundai IONIQ?
AE: about an hour; AE-PE: two to three hours. You can wait at the workshop or drop the IONIQ in the morning and collect it the same day.
What stays factory when you fit CarPlay on a Hyundai IONIQ?
AE: CarPlay is factory-fitted, so we only add to it. AE-PE: the display is replaced, but the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and the climate controls are kept.
