The 2007 to 2015 car with the Blue&Me radio, nearly always for the Android unit with wireless CarPlay, and often parking sensors in the same visit because the rear view is small. Facelift cars come for a wireless adapter on the Uconnect 7-inch, better door speakers and ambient lighting to go with the body-colour dash.

Only at the back. The 500C keeps the same dash, radio and door speakers as the hatch, so screens, adapters and front speakers are identical. The reversing camera and parking sensors go on the same bumper, but the rear speakers and the camera cable route around the folding roof, which adds a little time. Book it as a 500C and we allow for it at the Dublin 11 workshop.

Yes. The Abarth 500 and 595 share the dash and radio with the Fiat, so the Android unit, wireless adapter, camera and speaker kits are the same, with an Abarth fascia where one is available. Cars with the Beats audio keep the amplifier and the boot subwoofer, and we match the new speakers to it.

Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Speakers: two to four hours depending on how many speakers are changed. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Most 500 owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
