Radio King does head unit upgrade on every Porsche Boxster generation we see: 987 (2005–2012): Double-DIN Android screen with a Boxster fascia in place of the CDR radio: wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth and a camera input, steering-wheel buttons kept where fitted; PCM cars usually keep the Porsche screen and take our CarPlay interface; 981 (2012–2016): Android screen in the PCM position with the climate and console buttons kept, a job we have done on a 981; on PCM 3.1 cars the wireless CarPlay interface keeps the factory screen instead; 982 (2016 on): PCM 4.0 stays: a module behind the screen adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on 2016 to 2021 cars, later cars have both from the factory; DAB and the Bose system are untouched. A double-DIN Android screen behind a Boxster fascia. It brings wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth calls and a reversing camera input, and the steering-wheel buttons are kept where the car has them. Bose cars are fitted with an optical adapter so the factory amplifier stays in use. If your 987 has PCM instead, most owners keep the Porsche screen and add the CarPlay interface behind it.
Do you replace the PCM in a 981 or 718?
Rarely. On a 981 with PCM 3.1 and on every 718 with PCM 4.0 the factory screen controls too much of the car to be worth removing, so we add a wireless CarPlay and Android Auto module behind it and keep the Porsche look. An Android screen is still possible on the 981 for owners who want a larger display and apps.
How much does car radio cost on a Porsche Boxster?
It depends on the generation. 987 (2005–2012): from €290; 981 (2012–2016): from €290; 982 (2016 on): from €290. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.

How long does car radio take on a Porsche Boxster?
Two to three hours, usually the same day on the Porsche Boxster 987, 981 and 982. You can wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
What stays factory when you fit car radio on a Porsche Boxster?
On every Boxster we work on — 987, 981 and 982 — the steering-wheel buttons, the factory amplifier and speakers, the reverse camera and the climate controls stay; the new unit adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB and a camera input.
