MG ZS upgrades, generation by generation.
Radio King adds wireless CarPlay to the MG ZS: 2017–2020 cars with the 8-inch screen and the 2020–2024 facelift and ZS EV get a wireless adapter for the CarPlay they already have, entry cars with the radio-only dash get an Android screen, and the 2024-on ZS takes the same adapter. The 2020 to 2024 facelift, petrol and ZS EV alike, mostly for the wireless CarPlay adapter, and a fair few for a hardwired dash cam in the same visit, like the 2025 ZS we fitted one to. Early 8-inch cars come for the adapter too; the 2024-on ZS Hybrid+ is newer and just starting to appear.
Is there anything different about the ZS EV?
Only for hardwired work. The ZS EV keeps a normal 12 V battery for the lights, screen and electronics, and that is the side we use for anything wired, such as a dash cam or lighting, with a low-voltage cut-off; the high-voltage battery is never touched. The wireless CarPlay adapter needs no wiring at all, so on the EV it is the same two-minute job.

What does Radio King fit on a MG ZS?
CarPlay: A wireless adapter on every ZS with a touchscreen, an Android screen on early Explore cars without one. Reversing camera: Factory-look camera on the factory screen with guidelines, coded in where the car supports it. Car radio: Larger Android screen with the factory buttons and amplifier kept, where the original display is too small. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: A rear-only kit of four bumper sensors with an audible warning, no screen display. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.
How long do jobs on a MG ZS take?
CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most ZS owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.
Do you keep the factory system on a MG ZS?

Facelift: the 10.1-inch touchscreen with wired CarPlay and Android Auto on most trims; the ZS EV has the same MG iSMART screen stays and we add to it. Mk2: the 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wired on most cars; MG iSMART stays and we add to it. Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
