Radio King does CarPlay and Android Auto retrofit on every MG ZS generation we see: Mk1 (2017–2020): Wireless adapter on cars with the 8-inch screen and factory CarPlay; the Explore's radio has no touchscreen, so there an Android screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto goes in its place; Facelift (2020–2024): Factory wired CarPlay and Android Auto on the 10.1-inch screen, so the job is a wireless adapter hidden in the console; the ZS EV takes the same adapter; Mk2 (2024 on): Factory CarPlay on the 12.3-inch screen; a wireless adapter where the car is wired only, with the USB lead routed so the port stays free for charging. Not from the factory on most cars. The 2017 to 2020 ZS with the 8-inch screen, the 2020 to 2024 facelift and ZS EV with the 10.1-inch screen and the 2024-on car are all wired. We add a small wireless adapter that plugs into the USB port and tucks into the console, so the phone connects when you get in and stays in your pocket; Android Auto goes wireless the same way.
My early ZS Explore has no touchscreen — can it get CarPlay?
Yes. The entry Explore came with a radio and a small display rather than the 8-inch touchscreen, so an adapter has nothing to plug into. The route there is an Android screen with a ZS fascia in the same slot, with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth and a reversing camera input, and the steering-wheel buttons kept. It takes about half a day.
How much does CarPlay cost on a MG ZS?
It depends on the generation. Mk1 (2017–2020): from €250; Facelift (2020–2024): from €290; Mk2 (2024 on): from €250. Fitting is done at our Dublin 11 workshop — send the reg and we confirm the exact price before you book.
