UM cars from 2015 to 2018, nearly always for the Android screen, often with rear parking sensors at the same time. XM owners come for the same screen with a reversing camera, MQ4 owners for a wireless CarPlay adapter on the 10.25-inch navigation, which is a half-hour job.

Only the cable runs. The camera cable goes the full length of the car to the tailgate and the third-row trim comes out to hide it, which adds an hour or so on the XM and UM. Everything at the front, the screen, the fascia and the steering-wheel controls, is shared with the five-seat car.

XM — 2010–2015 (five and seven-seat): Radio with a small display and Bluetooth on most cars; 7-inch touchscreen navigation on the top trims, no CarPlay. UM — 2015–2020 (seven-seat): 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen navigation on most cars; CarPlay and Android Auto usually only on 2018 and later cars after the facelift. MQ4 — 2020 on (petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid, seven seats): 8-inch display audio with wireless CarPlay on base cars, 10.25-inch navigation with wired CarPlay on most; 12.3-inch ccNC with wireless CarPlay on the 2024 facelift. Car radio: A Sorento-specific Android screen on the XM and 2015–2018 UM; the MQ4 keeps the factory screen. CarPlay: Android screen on XM and early UM cars, a wireless adapter on late UM and MQ4 cars. Reversing camera: Camera in the tailgate handle on the Android screen or the factory navigation; factory camera on the MQ4. Ambient lighting: Ambient LED kits in doors and dash, extended factory ambient on newer cars, app controlled. Speakers: Plug-in door speakers and tweeters, factory head unit and amplifier kept, no cutting. Parking sensors: Four sensors in the rear bumper with a buzzer that beeps faster; sound only. Dash cam: Hardwired from the fuse box with parking mode and a low-voltage cut-off, cables hidden. Subwoofer: Under-seat or boot subwoofer on a DSP amplifier fed from the factory unit, boot space kept. Soundproofing: Doors and floor treated with butyl and foam, trim refitted without marks.

Car radio: two to three hours, usually the same day. CarPlay: under an hour for activation, two to four hours for a box or a screen. Reversing camera: two to three hours. Ambient lighting: two to four hours. Most Sorento owners wait at the workshop or drop the car in the morning and collect it the same day.

Steering-wheel buttons, factory amplifiers and cameras are carried over on every route; the only route that changes what you see is an Android screen, and even then the controls are kept.
