The new head unit in the 2004 Lexus IS200

We refreshed the audio in this Lexus IS200 at our Dublin workshop, replacing the tired factory radio with a modern stereo — Bluetooth hands-free, USB and a much cleaner sound.

While the car was with us we also sorted the reversing camera, subwoofer and parking sensors, all wired in cleanly and tested before the car went back to the owner.

Will I keep my steering wheel controls?

Yes. A control interface translates the factory buttons for the new unit, so volume, track and phone controls keep working from the wheel. On most cars the original display for media information keeps working too.

Does the new stereo support DAB radio?

Yes. The units we fit take DAB as standard, which matters in Ireland where a number of stations are digital-only. A DAB aerial is fitted as part of the job where the car does not already have one.

Can the original stereo be refitted later?

Yes. Because the install uses an adapter loom rather than cut wiring, the factory unit can go back in at any time. Keep the original stereo and fascia — that is all that is needed to reverse the job.

Which head unit fits Lexus models?

That depends on the aperture — single DIN, double DIN or a model-specific screen — and on the year. We check the fascia and loom availability for Lexus models before quoting, so you get a unit that fits without cutting the dash.
