Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the Volkswagen Golf

Another tidy install from our Dublin workshop — this Volkswagen Golf now runs a modern multimedia screen with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto in place of the original unit.

While the car was with us we also sorted the reversing camera and parking sensors, all wired in cleanly and tested before the car went back to the owner.

What we did

  • Modern touchscreen head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
  • Reversing camera with on-screen parking guidelines
  • Front and/or rear parking sensors

We can do the same on your Volkswagen Golf — message our Dublin workshop to check compatibility for your car.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

Answers about this Volkswagen Golf job. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.

Ask on WhatsApp
Can Apple CarPlay be retrofitted to the Volkswagen Golf?

In most cases yes. Either an interface is added behind the factory screen, or the head unit is replaced with one that has CarPlay built in. Which route suits the Volkswagen Golf depends on the year and the screen it was built with — we confirm that before quoting.

Will the steering wheel controls still work?

Yes. The new unit connects through a Volkswagen Golf harness and, where the car needs one, a steering wheel interface, so the volume, track and call buttons keep working. A reversing camera can be connected to the same screen.

Is anything cut during the install?

No. The kit uses a fascia and plug-in harness made for the Volkswagen Golf, so the factory wiring is not cut. Keep the original radio and the car can go back to stock later if you want.

How long does the fitting take?

Most CarPlay retrofits are done in a few hours, so the car is usually back with you the same day. We book a slot at our Dublin 11 workshop and confirm timing once we know the exact year and trim.
