Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the Hyundai IX35

This Hyundai IX35 came in for a full front-end refresh. Out went the old factory radio, and in went a sharp modern touchscreen running Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

While the car was with us we also sorted the reversing camera, dash camera and parking sensors, all wired in cleanly and tested before the car went back to the owner.

What we did

  • Modern touchscreen head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
  • Reversing camera with on-screen parking guidelines
  • Dash camera hard-wired in for peace of mind
  • Front and/or rear parking sensors

FAQ

Questions people ask.

Answers about this Hyundai IX35 job. Something else? Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply in under 5 minutes.

Ask on WhatsApp
Can Apple CarPlay be retrofitted to Hyundai models?

In most cases yes. Either an interface is added behind the factory screen, or the head unit is replaced with one that has CarPlay built in. Which route suits Hyundai models depends on the year and the screen it was built with — we confirm that before quoting.

Will the steering wheel controls still work?

Yes. The new unit connects through a Hyundai IX35 harness and, where the car needs one, a steering wheel interface, so the volume, track and call buttons keep working. A reversing camera can be connected to the same screen.

Is anything cut during the install?

No. The kit uses a fascia and plug-in harness made for the Hyundai IX35, so the factory wiring is not cut. Keep the original radio and the car can go back to stock later if you want.

How long does the fitting take?

Most CarPlay retrofits are done in a few hours, so the car is usually back with you the same day. We book a slot at our Dublin 11 workshop and confirm timing once we know the exact year and trim.
